What is the Annual Grand Slam ?
The Grand Slam tournaments, also referred to as majors, are the world's four most important annual professional tennis events. The tournaments offer the most ranking points, prize money, public and media attention, the greatest strength and size of field, and longest matches for men (best of 5 sets).
They are overseen by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), rather than the separate men and women's tour organizing bodies, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and Women's Tennis Association (WTA), but both the ATP and WTA award ranking points based on players' performances in the tournaments.
The Annual Grand Slam was that in the same year and won the highest tennis tournament at the same time which is the championship of the four major open tournaments. It mean you need to took all these champion title in the same year.
Why Annual Grand Slam so attractive ?
In the past, tennis was limited to some upper-class sports. In the middle of the 20th century, businessmen organized to promote tennis to all walks of life in the world. We collectively call this pioneering era Open Era.
With the advent of Open Era, more and more people are touched by tennis, that is, the number of people touched has spread all over the world, so more players have participated in the Grand Slam tournament. Since Open Era, with the large number of competitors no man in the tennis world has completed the Annual Grand Slam.
Since 2004, Federer has dominated the tennis world. He has taken tennis to a new level. Then Nadal became famous in the French Open in 2005 and won his first Grand Slam championship at the age of 19.
In the five-year competitive relationship between Federer and Nadal (2005-2009), in addition to the competitive relationship, they are also a beacon on the way to each other's growth. And Djokovic began to shine after 2011, and then three people officially brought tennis into the "Big 3" era.
Federer, Nadal and Djokovic are both players with 20 Grand Slam titles now. Federer's contribution to tennis is world-famous. He took tennis to new heights and was judged as the first person in history. He is also the urger of the quality of tennis. His temperament is unparalleled and his skills are amazing.
Nadal's dominance on the clay court is basically needless to say. He has two four consecutive championships and one five consecutive championships in the French Open. He has an amazing 97% winning rate on the French tennis court. At his peak, Outside the Grand Slam also won all ATP clay court championship titles
Djokovic seems to be born out of nowhere. It is not as good as Federer in terms of temperament and Nadal in terms of explosiveness and effort. What fans around the world want to see is the highly contrasting combination of Federer and Nadal, not Djokovic's type of player.
And Djokovic has also worked hard to prove his value and everything with one title after another. Now his return is coming, and it is what he needs and desires to become a battle of history. And say goodbye with "BIG 3".
