IPL 2021 DC vs SRH Match Prediction: Who Will Win? When All The Teams Can Beat Each Other.
Wednesday’s encounter will see second-placed Delhi Capitals (DC) lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Kane Williamson’s SRH are currently placed eighth in the points table and will be desperate to bounce back.
Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has made his predictions for the Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad clash on Wednesday night in Dubai.
“I’m going with Delhi to win this match. It’s because my heart lies in Delhi and also due to SRH’s poor form in the tournament. If Hyderabad loses one more game, then that’s about it. Then SRH’s chances will come down to mathematical calculations. So SRH will be under pressure to perform well,” Chopra was quoted as saying on his official YouTube channel.
Shifting focus to SRH, named David Warner, skipper Kane Williamson, Rashid Khan and Jason Holder as his four overseas picks for the clash against DC. He also urged SRH to let Wriddhiman Saha open with Warner, since the two tasted success in the UAE last season.
Rishabh Pant’s big task to prove his captaincy:
With Shreyas Iyer set to return after missing out on the first phase of the IPL 2021 due to injury, it will be a big test for Rishabh Pant to prove his captaincy when they begin their phase 2 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai on Wednesday. Pant will continue to lead Delhi Capitals despite Shreyas Iyer’s return and all the eyes will be on him, especially on his leadership abilities, in the remainder of the tournament.
DC boast of a strong middle-order comprising Shreyas Iyer, skipper Rishabh Pant (213 runs), Australians Steve Smith (104 runs) and Marcus Stoinis (71 runs) and Shimron Hetmyer (84 runs).
They will have to play their roles well if the Capitals need to keep winning and in case the opener’s fail, the middle-order will need to take responsibility. Iyer, who is making a comeback after recovering from shoulder injury that he sustained in March, would also be keen to start the tournament well.
Delhi also have a settled bowling attack and they could go in with Avesh Khan (14 wickets) and Kasigo Rabada (8 wickets), who have been lethal at the start and at the death.
Delhi have an array of spinners to choose from be it wily old-fox Ravichandran Ashwin, experienced campaigner Amit Mishra, Axar Patel, Lalit Yadav or Pravin Dubey.
SRH, on the other hand, Hyderabad desperately need to bounce back if they keep themselves afloat in the competition. David Warner is likely to get an opportunity to redeem himself after a below-par performance in the India leg of IPL 2021.
If SRH bat first
Sunrisers Hyderabad have 2 openers capable of providing a fiery start but they need to ensure that they don't lose their wickets in the process. Saha needs to step up and play an anchor role while Guptill needs to convert his starts into big scores. With Manish Pandey and skipper Kane Williamson in good nick, SRH can boss the middle overs and go big in the death.
They also have big hitters like Nabi, Vijay Shankar and Yusuf Pathan who can boost their total and if they have a good power play, they can make a total of 160-190 runs and defend it as well.
Williamson, who took charge after David Warner’s removal, believes that there is still a ‘small chance’ to make it to the playoffs. “After the first half of the competition, it wasn’t perhaps our best and that hasn’t increased our chances to make the playoffs. But I still believe that there is a small chance, and we have to win pretty much all our games,”
“I think the challenge for us really is coming together as a group and putting up much-improved performances and I think that will give us the best chance to get the right results in games as we know in this competition, all the teams are strong and all the teams can beat each other. It is one of the toughest competitions in the world, it is exciting. But for us, the focus is what is in front of us and what is in our control,” said Williamson.
