2021 will be Kohli's last season as RCB captain

Kohli has been the captain of the Bangalore team since 2013, but he failed to win the trophy even once. However, his enthusiasm for the team has never diminished, as he witnessed every time he stepped onto the court. Recently, he announced that he will abandon the role of RCB captain at the end of the IPL 2021 season.

The decision to do this was to reduce his overall workload, because he is now also the captain of all three forms of the Indian team. But when RCB had a terrible 2019 IPL season, Kohli had already considered leaving the captain position.

I had spoken to AB in 2019, it’s not new. With the IPL, I’ve always been in a space where I’ve wanted to create some kind of peaceful environment for me throughout the calendar year.”

And we had these discussions and I thought ‘okay fine, we’ll give it one more year’ because we had a restructuring of the management and things were much better in 2020. I felt a bit more relaxed at that stage,” Virat Kohli say
